Talk Is Cheap

If you are still talking about change, your team is tired of hearing about it.  The first few conversations created excitement about the possibility of a different future.  But the more you talked without taking action, the more frustrating those conversations became for those around you.  Conversations without action quickly turn into monologues.

Unfortunately, in the future when you decide you really are ready to make the tough calls, your team will be less likely to believe you and thus unmotivated to join you in the change process.  They have heard your words before and lowered their assessments of your courage to do different.

Talking about change without following through is the quickest way to become your own barrier.  Making the difficult decisions that give real value to words is the only way to overcome it.
